Vision-Guided Reorientation and Packaging at 200 Cans per Minute
Sardina automated can orientation and secondary packaging with an integrated Machinex vision-guided reorienting module and wrap-around packaging line. The system handles 200 cans per minute and creates precise 30-can packs arranged in two rows of 15.
Machine: VISION REORIENTING MODULE + WRAP-AROUND PACKAGING
THE CHALLENGE
Before the Machinex solution, seven operators were required for the process. Sardina also needed every can to be correctly oriented before packaging while maintaining high production speed, reduced material usage and consistent pack quality.
THE SOLUTION
Machinex supplied an integrated vision-guided reorienting module and wrap-around packaging machine. The vision system detects the orientation of incoming cans, the reorienting module corrects each product as required, and the packaging machine automatically groups and packs 30 cans in two rows of 15. The complete line operates at 200 cans per minute.
Vision-guided orientation at production speed
The Sardina line combines machine vision, automatic product reorientation and wrap-around packaging in one continuous process. The vision system identifies the orientation of incoming cans and enables automatic correction before packaging, maintaining consistent product presentation and pack formation at 200 cans per minute.
Before Machinex
- 7 operators required for the process
- Manual product handling and orientation
- Higher cardboard consumption
- Greater variation in packaging geometry
- Lower process repeatability
With Machinex Vision + Wrap-Around
- 1 operator required for the line
- Automatic vision detection and product reorientation
- Production speed of 200 cans per minute
- 30-can packs arranged in two rows of 15
- Reduced cardboard usage with more precise and sturdy packaging
RESULTS
- Vision-guided product orientation at 200 cans per minute
- Automatic grouping and wrap-around packaging of 30 cans in two rows of 15
- Direct operator requirement reduced from seven people to one
- Reduced cardboard consumption through optimized packaging design
- Improved packaging precision, repeatability and structural stability
